Friendly Fires Getaway is a private, peaceful lakeside chalet. It is a comfortable, complete four-seasons getaway. Here you will find everything you need for the total cottage lakeside experience. It is located on the shores of beautiful Grand Lake in Quebec’s Gatineau Hills. We invite you to make yourself at home. You and your companions will create lasting joyful memories.

On first arriving you will be greeted by the main cottage, set amidst a cluster of out-buildings. As you make your way down the path to the main cottage you will find out-buildings aligned along your route. The Teahouse and Bunkhouse are private sleeping spaces at each end. The main cottage and enclosed veranda are the large common spaces. The Smokehouse is a sheltered, protected cooking, grilling and social haven. All buildings are linked by pathways to the central main cottage building which you see from above when you drive up. The pathway goes between the Veranda and the Smokehouse and on down steps onto the lower deck area, a large fire pit with seating and the lakeside dock area.

The cottage has two physically separate bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. The upstairs cottage bedrooms are accessed by an exterior stairway. Thus Fireside Getaway has three distinct, private sleeping areas which provides you and your group ample opportunities for both togetherness and personal privacy!

The main cottage features a green roof set with potted plants. It features generous spaces for entertaining. But there are also places to just curl up with a book if you wish. You can relax on the sun filled decks, the dock, or the sun porch. You can unwind in the outdoor hot tub. Or you can gather around a gentle blaze on the camp fire deck. You can switch to the indoor sauna, before breakfast or just before bed – your choice. This place has lots of options: options to be with the group, or to be alone!

 We also feature cooking options for you foodies out there. The kitchen is excellently-equipped with high-end appliances. And the Smokehouse offers several bbq options; gas and charcoal. There is also a compact wood-fired pizza oven, And you can smoke your food on our smoker at the camp fire.

I have included lots of tasteful and artsy details all over the cottage! It is a very personalized place with both practical and whimsical details. Even some intended to make you smile! Things are set up and situated to awaken your senses, and relax your mind, body and soul. The vibe allows you to be one-on-one intimate, if you wish. Our 4-season cottage feels and looks like a cottage should. It has small spaces and open spaces. It is a place where you will want to light a fire. There are, after all, seven fire options to choose from! It will keep you busy, because being at a cottage, is about doing all the cottage things!

We face south so the cottage is filled with sunlight! It has windows everywhere and you will feel like you are outside, except you are not! Though the site is filled with trees, the view of the lake is a constant. And you can joy your breakfast outdoors just footsteps from the lake’s edge, then dive into the lake for a refreshing early morning swim. Come back to suntan on the dock, warm up in the sauna, or relax in our 8-person hot tub while your food is being smoked. Once you plan this trip, you will not want to leave!

You can also enjoy an afternoon fishing off the dock and you’re welcome to kayak or canoe. In winter, you are on the doorstep of the Nations Capital's premier cross country ski trail (Nakkertok), and only 15 minutes from Edelweiss and Mont Cascades for downhill skiing. Golf is nearby as well as the beautiful Gatineau park!

The cottage is located near the village of Perkins, or Wakefield which includes a grocery stores, a butcher, hardware store, pharmacy and restaurant/bars. It is close to local golf courses, horseback riding, LA fleche caves and an aerial park. The Outaouais and West Quebec areas are rich in historic, cultural, and linguistic diversity. This region boasts some of best year-round outdoor lifestyle and entertainment activities in the world such as skiing, cycling, hiking and more!
